A recent announcement from the Open Center, posing the question above, What is Western Esotericism? was opened by 13,000 people, the highest rate of response we have experienced online. Fortunately, we are very well versed in this topic as we have produced a 25-year series of conferences known as Esoteric Quests that follow the golden thread of spiritual wisdom in the West.
The director of the Quests, Ralph White, will interview two of its most accomplished and articulate speakers – scholar, psychologist and writer, Leonard George, and specialist in music and the esoteric, Marjorie Roth. Leonard writes, “Esoteric refers to the hidden part, the inside story, the depth of things – the quest for what lies ‘beyond, behind, below.’ This way is, in fact, a universal part of the human experience.”
Join us for a meaningful conversation about the multiple streams of Western Esotericism – from ancient Alexandria and antiquity, through Renaissance Florence and its platonic academy, to the alchemical and Rosicrucian era of Bohemia and the mysteries of the North in Iceland. This is profound material with deep resonance for those on the quest for wisdom and love.

Leonard George, PhD, is a Canadian psychologist, writer, educator and broadcaster and a life-long student of esotericism. He served as the Chair of the School of Social Sciences at Capilano University in North Vancouver.
Marjorie Roth, PhD, DMA, is a professor of music at Nazareth College in Upstate New York. A flutist, scholar, researcher and teacher in the expanding field of esoteric music, she is a much-valued presenter at The Open Center’s Esoteric Quest conferences.
