What You’ll Learn

Creative improvisation supports one’s ability to harness the emotional, aesthetic, organizing and communicative powers of music through live interactive improvisation. During this two-day workshop, practical musical resources will be introduced through experiential music-making activities with a focus on interaction and instrumental, vocal, physical, verbal and emotional goal-directed improvisation.

Participants learn to improvise compositionally, creating melodic phrases, rhythmic patterns and songs, which they can develop and use in their therapeutic practice or use as a tool for personal development. They also become familiar with various treatment strategies including supporting, enhancing, evoking and challenging themselves or their clients to meet their goals through music.
