The Reiki System of Natural Healing uses gentle, non-invasive touch to accelerate the body’s natural healing processes, support mental and emotional healing, and create an overall sense of profound well-being.
Brought to the West some 90 years ago, Reiki has become one of the most in-demand healing modalities in the United States and around the world, used in hospitals, hospices, spas, and wellness centers. Our professional training uniquely blends the classical Japanese tradition and the Western Reiki style, with experiential classes focused on demonstrations and supervised hands-on practice, as well as mentoring outside class time.

Reiki 2, “Deeper Within”
Prerequisite: Reiki 1, and 21 days since taking Reiki 1
Deepen and expand your Reiki journey. Learn how to focus and transmit Reiki to non-physical levels through space and time, and experience an even deeper exploration of spiritual healing.
You’ll learn:
• 3 Reiki symbols, and their meanings and purposes
• 3 mantras
• Chanting & spiritual centering practice
• “Distance” transmission techniques

Reiki 3 – Advanced Professional Training
A 100-Hour Certificate Program in 4 Modules

This is an advanced training for students who seek to professionalize their Reiki practice. It is offered in 4 two-day modules. Completion of all modules is required in the stated sequential order. 100-hours Certification includes 40 hours of outside practicum. Future dates to be announced.
Prerequisite: Reiki 2 (from all lineages), & 21 days since taking Reiki 2 * Required Text: The Ethics of Touch by Sohnen-Moe & Benjamin
Module 1: Japanese Healing Techniques
In this module we acquire a general understanding of human anatomy and physiology, and of energy meridians, by drawing from the perspectives of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Advanced techniques, such as scanning for troubled areas, incorporating the eyes and the breath in Reiki protocols and hand-positions for different ailments, will also be covered.

Module 2: 12 Chakras and Mind-Body Symbolism
Expand our vocabulary and awareness in a Reiki treatment with an understanding of the chakra system in and around the body. There will be guided imagery exercises and practice sessions. Prerequisite Module 1.

Module 3: Clinics and Supervision
This weekend we learn how to practice in a professional setting, exploring issues such as time management, boundaries, client documentation, and the ethics of touch. Second day will be a clinical experience immersion in which we perform back-to-back professional sessions and receive feedback and mentoring. Prerequisite Modules 1 & 2.

Module 4: Attunement
Attunement, a key practice in Reiki, is about coming into a shared harmonious space with another. We will engage in group exercises to better understand the meaning of attunement. Reiju (attunement) will be shown with ample practices for the students. Prerequisite Module 1,2, & 3.

School of Holistic and Professional Learning Standards- School Policies
School Policy on Leaves
of Absence, Class Cuts,
and Make-up Work
Students are required to attend all weeks of instruction. If a student has an emergency situation that causes the student to miss all or part of a week that student must notify the teacher as soon as possible in order to arrange a make-up session. Leaves of
absence are not available.
Standards of Progress
Student will receive a pass/fail at the end of the course. This will be based on teacher evaluations and exams which will receive a
numeric grade on a scale of 0 to 100.
Refund Policy
A student who cancels within 7 days of signing the enrollment agreement but before instruction begins receives all monies
returned with the exception of the nonrefundable registration fee.
After 7 days, a student will be liable for: the non-refundable registration fee, plus tuition liability as of the student’s last date
of physical attendance. Tuition liability is determined by the percentage of the program offered to the student (see chart
below for this program),
If a student needs to withdraw from a program and would like to request a refund, the student should contact the Registration
Department Manager via e-mail at professionaltrainings@opencenter.org.
The failure of a student to notify the director in writing of withdrawal may delay refund of tuition due pursuant to Section 5002 of the Education Law.
Credit for Previous Education
This program does not grant previous credit.

For Reiki 1: High School Diploma/GED
For Reiki 2 and Reiki 3, see prerequisites listed under workshops or modules in this section.

Joanna Crespo, MBA, Reiki teacher, has been practicing Reiki for over ten years. She is certified in the Family Constellation and Chinese Herbalism, and a KRI Certified Instructor of Kundalini Yoga. She is the director of the New York Open Center training program for Reiki System of Natural Healing. She has a private practice in Montclair, NJ.
