Sound Healing Therapy is a rapidly growing discipline that is increasingly being used clinically to address a variety of medical problems. However, many of the clients seen by sound healers have significant mental health issues that must be addressed if the treatment is to have lasting value beyond a momentary feel good experience.
This weekend workshop is designed for sound healing practitioners and any other individuals who wish to integrate sound healing and mindfulness practices into their particular discipline. The program will be didactic, interactive and experiential. There will be an interactive presentation and activities that focus on the theoretical foundations and scientific research supporting the use and integration of Sound Healing Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness Meditation.
Participants will learn through observation, mock sessions, role playing and small group experiences, how to structure sound healing sessions using simple cognitive restructuring and mindfulness techniques. Small group sessions will consist of mini-clinics where every member will participate in the structuring of sound healing and cognitive restructuring sessions and experience a session performed on them. Participants will be taught to structure sessions using various systems and sound healing instruments. In the last session, participants will learn how to turn the ever popular “sound bath” that has become the face of sound healing in the larger community, into an actual healing experience. The workshop will end with a group healing session performed by the teacher for the students.
