It is hard for many to actually conceive of that, because we see ourselves as separate individual forms: separate from each other, separate from the universe, separate from a higher intelligence.
There is a great saying from the Kularnava Tantra: “What exists here is elsewhere, what is not here is nowhere.”
This is very abstract, but in a concrete way, the elements that make us up are the same elements that make up the entire universe.
We are just a microcosm of a larger macrocosm.
The Path to Liberation
Scientists now are starting to substantiate this idea. When a star dies, where does it go? It returns back to the planet as the same combination of gases and energy that created it to be in the first place and this is the same combination of elements that all matter in manifested from. In essence, we are all stardust.
To me, this is one of the most liberating concepts. It means that if something “out there” is out of alignment, we can shift it by looking at what is out of alignment “in here” in ourselves.
For example, if you are experiencing lack of abundance or intimacy in your life it usually means that you are not feeling abundance or intimacy within ourselves. It is not what is coming *at* us, it is what’s coming *from* us that determines our reality.
So the next time you see that someone is behaving towards you in a way that you are unhappy with, consider that it might be the universe’s way of showing you that you are out of balance in yourself. The more we work on ourselves, the more freedom we can experience in life. This, in sanskrit, is called “Svadyaya.”
How to Access UnBound Intelligence: A Practice
We have access to an unbound field of potential in each moment. The universe is filled with an intelligence that we can tune to if we just learn how to quiet the mind and look inward.
Here is a meditation that will help to create stillness so that you can access the inner realm of expansiveness and liberation.
Hum… Sa, Sa Hum (I am that, that I am)
Sit in a comfortable cross-legged seat. Visualize a ball of light at the base of your spine. As you happen to breathe in draw the light up the line of your spine and silently hear the sound “hum.” As you exhale, visualize the light moving down to the base of your spine with the sound “Sa.” Breathe in “Hum” and breathe out “sa.”
As you continue to do this, hum and sa will blend to sa hum and you will experience a merging of duality and recongnize that you are all things and all things are you. There is no separation. Moisten your finger and press the point in between your eyebrows and slightly above. Let that cooling sensation resonate and feel who you really are: a drop that has merged back into an ocean of consciousness.
