What The Road Said: Learning To Lead with Kindness & Curiosity

With Cleo Wade

ABOUT THIS PROGRAM

An Evening Book Presentation, Talk & Q&A
Tuesday, September 21, 2021, 6:30 – 7:30 PM ET

What the Road Said is the New York Times-bestselling picture book, a comforting and uplifting work from the bestselling poet and activist Cleo Wade. With simple questions, throughout the book, Cleo leads us on a path from fear to bravery to leadership. She writes:

Which way do I go?
That is your choice to make,
said the Road.

But what if I go the wrong way?
The Road curved a little,
almost as if it was giving me a hug, and said,
Do not worry. Sometimes we go the wrong way on our
way to the right way.

Poet Cleo Wade’s new book, What the Road Said encourages us to lead with kindness and curiosity, and to believe that It’s okay to be afraid or to sometimes wander down the wrong path, but to always remember that the most important thing we can do in life is to keep going. The book is beautifully illustrated, with luminous scenes of a brown girl with golden curls on the road, always asking the right questions on the road, but more importantly, the answers are simple and reassuring.

This is not a traditional children’s book, instead it is book for all-ages, even adults. Especially if you are going through a rough patch, or starting a new way of life (marriage, new baby, divorce, new job, etc.). Cleo offers us a more spiritual and insightful viewpoint which she found also helped her heal as she wrote the book. It gently teaches us about how we can move through life, with trust and bravery, vulnerability and a real dedication to kindness.

Each ticket includes your own book “What The Road Said”. The book will be mailed after the event to participants with the current U.S. mailing address. We cannot mail the book internationally.
