Mindfulness practices free us from habitual patterns of tension and bring a deeper alignment with life. The Alexander Technique, when applied to meditation, is a simple, yet powerful tool for cultivating mindfulness of the body, bringing awareness to habitual tension, and relaxing our goal-oriented approach to life.
This class offers practical instruction on both sitting and walking meditation. We will also apply the principles to everyday activities such as lying down, bending, and sitting at our computers. By understanding our basic body mechanics and anatomy, we release unnecessary tension in our lives. Learn to improve your posture and experience more ease. Open to new and experienced meditators—meditation instruction will be provided.

Hope Martin is a certified Alexander Technique instructor, teaching in NYC, nationally and internationally, since 1987. She is also a Focusing Trainer and a meditation teacher. Hope is a close student of Pema Chodron and has been her cook and attendant for 25 years.
