Master Terry Dunn has more than 44 years of experience in Chinese martial, yogic, and healing arts and has been teaching Tai Chi Chuan and Qigong for 36 years. He is one of the few 24th generation preservers of the Tan Tan Pai monastic Kung Fu tradition, which consists of a vast body of kung fu forms and six levels of Qigong–the first of which is the Basic 31 Meditations. From 1975 to 1983, Terry studied TTP under the late 23rd generation Taoist priest Share K. Lew and his venerable senior student, the late John Davidson. He is best known as the creator of the all-time best-selling instructional videos, “Tai Chi For Health Short Form” and “TCFH Long Form” (1991, 2004) and the best-selling 6-volume “Chi Kung For Health” DVD series (2004) teaching the “Flying Phoenix Qigong”, the other remarkable Taoist Qigong system that he preserves.
Educated at Yale College and the Harvard Business School, Terry Dunn is a gifted teacher, author and filmmaker who expresses an ecumenical vision in preserving some of the most rare and powerful ancient Chinese martial, yogic, healing, and spiritual traditions, and making them safe and accessible to the world audience. In 2000, Terry pioneered the practice of Tai Chi and Qigong in modern medicine and professional sports—by writing and implementing the first Qigong protocol in American history at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center’s Dept. of Cardio-thoracic Surgery as well as becoming the first full-time Tai Chi trainer in the NBA that same year, training the Los Angeles Lakers throughout its second World Championship season. Since 2013, Master Dunn has been on the senior faculty of Emperors College of Traditional Oriental Medicine in Santa Monica, CA, teaching nationally-accredited elective courses in Tai Chi For Health, Tao Tan Pai (Basic 31) Qigong, and Flying Phoenix Qigong. Since 2017, Terry Dunn has been the Tai Chi and Qigong master-in-residence at the Eastover Estate holistic health resort in Lenox, MA. For a full bio and more information, visit:
