Self-care for Health Professionals

The potential for burnout among health professionals is significant. The consequences can be seen in physical and emotional symptoms of exhaustion, overwhelm, depersonalization, and cynicism. Health statistics show the negative impact of burnout on patient safety, practitioner absenteeism, and workplace injuries. For healers and health professionals, self-care and wellbeing are essential to sustaining our superpowers of empathy and compassion. Addressing burnout and its companion ‘compassion fatigue’ is a complex task, and therefore needs a variety of strategies to maintain our health and resilience.
This daylong workshop focuses on the areas over which we as health care professionals have some control – self-care and compassion, building resilience, and navigating stress and overwhelm.
