Personaland.com is an online global village for the arts, is pleased to be showcasing the artwork of Salvatore Gulino, Michael Yurgeles, and Eric Hammer at the New York Open Center Gallery from January 17 through February 13.
Salvatore Gulino: “I eventually developed an approach to painting that can best be described in contemporary terms as Re-contextualization. Using a flat poster-like technique, I borrow images from the masters and combine them with images from popular culture such as storefronts, roller coasters, antique automobiles, etc.”
Sal has had solo and group shows in New York City and has been the recipient of several awards, including eight from Connecticut’s Silvermine Guild’s Art of the Northeast. His work has been reviewed by The New York Times and was featured in Yankee Magazine, the French Magazine Artistes, Connecticut Magazine, and Artis Magazine.
Michael Yurgeles: “Most of my work involves long-term projects for which I first gather images, text, and other artifacts and then use them to construct a final product. These images are part of a project I call Classroom, an exploration of the physical spaces to be found in public and private schools.”
Michael is an award-winning artist residing in Northwest Connecticut.
Eric Hammer: “To this day, more often than not, I still gravitate to the tighter shot that evokes some kind of mystery or mood. Like most artists, I love the hunt, the solitude, and the meditative process of stalking the shot or prepping a set.” A.E. Hammer was an art educator, award winning painter, and photographer.
The exhibit can also be viewed online at Personaland.com.
