This course is taught with an ecological and bioregional perspective, focusing primarily on the herbs that grow in our region here in the Northeast. This is a comprehensive four-month certificate training that explores the traditional, practical and environmentally sound ways of using herbs to keep well and treat common illnesses. This course gives a firm and solid foundation in the understanding of herbal medicine.

Topic highlights include
:

  • The basic anatomy and physiology of each body system and how to promote healing and treat most acute illnesses
  • The history of herbal medicine and how we got to where we are now
  • How to prevent illness, promote vitality and maintain balance in the body through the use of herbs
  • Practical lessons on how to make your own herbal products at home
  • The legal considerations of being an herbalist
  • Guest teachers will share principles of Chinese herbal medicine and herbal synergy
