Free Intro: Solving Chronic Pain: An Immersive Weekend Retreat

WITH DAVID HANSCOM, MD, LES ARIA, PHD

ABOUT THIS PROGRAM

A Free Introductory Evening
Sunday, May 9, 2021, 7:00 – 8:00 pm EST

Please join Les Aria and David Hanscom as they share their new approach for both our understanding and our treatment of some of our most difficult and chronic issues. Participants will also explore the neurological nature of pain, how to reprogram your mind-body connection, and other exercises to help you break free from your pain. All of which will be covered in our upcoming Solving Chronic Pain: An Immersive Weekend.

It seems hard to believe, but a pain-free life is possible even after decades of suffering. But how? Chronic pain is a mystery to most doctors and health-care practitioners but spine surgeon David Hanscom, MD and pain psychologist Les Aria, PhD have discovered an approach for working with their patients that has helped hundreds of people move out of chronic physical and emotional pain and back into their lives.

Using a multilayered, patient-directed approach, Drs. Hanscom and Aria will teach you how to reset your nervous system into a state of healing and rewire your brain to untangle the patterns that are keeping your body stuck in pain.

Movement artist Babs Yohai and psychologist Jasmine Yohai both focus on mindful movement and body awareness and bring fun, experiential exercises to open up pathways for joy.

You will explore the neurological nature of pain and the shifts you can make through creative practice. You also learn energy work, meditation, and forgiveness practices to reprogram your mind-body connection. In a safe and structured environment, you get the support and information you need to begin to finally break free from pain. Through group discussions, guided imagery and sensorimotor exercises, you learn to address all the factors that affect your perception of pain.

Note: This program will be offered online. Sessions of all our online programs will be recorded and shared with registrants after each is completed for 90 days.

WHO THIS 3-DAY WORKSHOP IS FOR

The workshop can benefit anyone who is experiencing ongoing mental/ physical pain or a chronic disease that is compromising his or her quality of life. Chronic pain can manifest in many other symptoms such as spastic bladder, irritable bowel, skin rashes, burning sensations throughout the body, fibromyalgia, migraine HA’s, tinnitus and others. When the nervous system is over-reactive and out of balance it can create or magnify almost any symptom in your body.

Additionally, physical and mental pains are processed in similar regions of the brain. Anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder and obsessive thought patterns, are other symptoms that also will eventually respond to these principles with repetition.

If you are not experiencing significant chronic pain just use the word, “stress”. It is a great set of concepts for processing stress. Stress in life is not the problem as much as your reaction to it.

This approach also benefits family members of those with chronic pain, and health-care professionals who want to implement these strategies in their practices.

Note for Participants of the Chronic Pain Summit: A New Pathway to Relief – (January 2021).

The Chronic Pain Summit was an academic summit where thought leaders in chronic disease shared their basic science and clinical expertise to foster future collaboration. The Solving Chronic Pain: An Immersive Weekend Retreat, brings these evolving concepts into real life practice. It will present practical tools and approaches that can be used indefinitely to calm down and reroute your nervous system. It is for people who have experienced prolonged discomfort from either physical and/or emotional pain.

The tools are presented in a structured setting with a lot of sharing. The result is a sense of feeling safe, which allows a shift in your body’s chemistry. This change often results in rapid decrease in pain and anxiety. Prior participants have described the experience as similar to being in an adult summer camp. The core principles are awareness, hope, forgiveness and play.
