I jumped into Reiki in 2003 out of despair and without hope of seeing another good day. Suicide was not far from my mind then. A friend recommended Reiki and off I went for a week of Reiki class in Kripalu, MA. Within that week, I experienced a new wonder of joy and hope. Feeling good was new after accumulative years of unknown depression. Upon returning from Kripalu, I looked for a teacher who would guide me in this Reiki journey. I found Margaret Ann Case. Her Reiki program promised a solid container for me and a seemingly guided journey for my ‘mess.’
Margaret Ann’s Reiki 3 (Reiki Master) program was a 425+ hours in 2004. Upon entering the program, my ego/pride took over and I was going to be a perfect student. As we all know, wisdom comes from learning one’s mistakes, and not just gaining knowledge. I enrolled in Reiki 3 expecting to gain information and knowledge as a good student, yet I left her program more prepared to deal with my mess…with open mind and questionable heart. But I wondered: Am I good enough?
From Margaret Ann’s Reiki 3 training, Margaret Ann gave me new venues and tools to explore self-healing. She opened a whole new vocabulary for me to explore – Intentions, Affirmations, Shadows, Inner Child, Chakras, Melchizedek, Flower of Life, Hologram of Love, Crystals, Akasha Records, Lives, and more that I am still discovering to this days. Margaret Ann guided me home to do my personal work.
What is Reiki? Reiki is as simple as the breath. It’s in us and it moves through us as ‘life’ moves through us. Reiki waits for us to be attuned with our life force and does not judge our thoughts or emotions. Reiki flows with us in grace or in stumbles as our faithful companion.
Many of your Reiki journeys started with Reiki on the physical body…and may learned that there is a vast universal cosmic energy that is waiting for you to explore in your own words/notes. A Reiki session is a soul dance between the practitioner and the recipient. Myriads of soul agreement came to play between the two participants and the Spirits. What is Reiki after all, the Spiritual Life Force, the Holy Spirit.
In a simple fashion, Reiki can balance our emotions and lower our stress levels. This can often be shown with a 2 to 5 minutes Chair Reiki anywhere, in a Reiki Circle or a Health Fair. When practice in depth, Reiki have shown to put physical diseases into remission in some cases. Metaphysically, Reiki has also given life answers to the heart-felt seekers.
I have been practicing Reiki since then. It’s no longer something I need to remember to do. Reiki is in me and it flows through me with every breath. There are still pain, disappointments, and grief. Yet they are also couched in life with tenderness, love and joy. There is so much of me and my life to explore/express. I am in love.
