“Have the courage to be vulnerable enough to explore what you don’t know.”
– Herbie Hancock
I was so excited about creating a new website this year. I researched designers, found a fabulous stylist and photographer, recorded new audios, started a weekly video series called Transform Today TV and then life interfered. As John Lennon once said, “life is what happens when you are busy making plans”
The learning curve for doing this project was way more than we had expected. Who knew that the program we picked would have so many technical glitches! Dana (my incredible right hand) and I felt like we landed on another planet where we did not speak the language or have any idea what was going on. We struggled through one challenge after another- sometimes easily and sometimes it was so tense we both wanted to quit and get a margarita.
They say you teach what you have to learn and that was exactly what happened. In order to create something new I had to rely on all my spiritual tools that I have been sharing with others for years. And, to be honest there were days when I just “lost it”.
One of the saying I share with my clients is “ Stop Shoulding on Yourself!” and I certainly had to embody that one. My inner critic was out of control for a bit, however I had enough tools to reign it in and refocus. Ritual has always been a bridge for me between the inner and the outer worlds and has created a context for my life that has given me stability and new resources. And I had to learn to stop judging myself for judging myself. That was a big one!
Why am I sharing this with you? Because I feel that we are all in this life together and need to understand that being on a spiritual path is not about being perfect or being in control. I am reminded that when Oprah launched her OWN network she was feeling overwhelmed and he boss reframed everything for her. He pointed out that launching a network and making it work is a really big deal. So he couldn’t imagine why she thought that it wouldn’t be hard. When she accepted that it was going to be demanding and crazy and that was part of the journey she turned it around.
As my teacher Brugh Joy used to say, “ No judgments! No comparisons! And delete the need to know!
The Spiritual Meaning of The First Twelve Days of The Year
Many years ago the Bulgarian master Omraam Mikhael Aivanhov told me that the first 12 days of January represent the whole year. January 1st stands for the month of January, January 2nd stands for February and so on. By practicing loving kindness, openness, and generosity while giving thoughtful attention to the significance of each day, you will consecrate the coming year.
January is a powerful time to do personal and group rituals to align our minds, hearts and actions and release the blocks and barriers that prevent us from manifesting our big dreams. The first time I experienced the power of a group workshop, over 30 years ago, I knew that something special and magical had occurred. In fact, many of the people I met way back then are still in my life today. There is nothing more supportive than sharing your journey with a group of like-minded people. The energy of a group can lift you up and cushion you when you most need support. Each time I teach a group I learn something new and feel extremely lucky to be able to inspire participants along the way.
As my New Year’s Gift to you and as a way to creating a solid foundation for the possibilities of the New Year ahead
I have recorded 12 audios to help you set clear intention for the year. Sign up now to get your FREE INTENTION INTENSIVE (you will receive one audio every day for the first 12 days of the year).
