Sharifa Felicia Norton and Muinuddin Charles Smith, PhD

This evening, two senior teachers in the lineage of Hazrat Inayat Khan (the first teacher to bring Sufism to the West in 1910), will introduce us to his teachings, which emphasize spiritual liberty, balance and spiritual awakening in everyday life. They will also share profound and rarely taught Sufi practices for the transformation of consciousness. We will learn meditations and methods that follow the Sufi’s alchemy of happiness including practices for: removing the veils that limit our sense of self, cultivating the luminous mind and heart, purifying our intent, contemplating the stages of love, and activating and opening the lataif (subtle centers) using breath and light. Sufi poetry and teaching stories will enrich this deep experience of the awakening of our hearts and the discovery of our soul’s true freedom and joy.
