With great sadness I announce that Margaret Ann Case passed away on Thursday, February 18th, 2010.

Margaret Ann served as faculty member of the New York Open Center for almost a decade, providing the New York metropolitan area with the highest caliber Reiki System of Natural Healing Program available -unique in it's depth not only to the city, but to the Reiki Community at large. Margaret Ann's integrity, faithfulness to practice and dedication drew hundreds of students to discover Reiki with her foundational courses and many continued on to her Advanced Reiki Practitioner Certificate Program, Reiki Master Program and Teacher Training program.  As a leader in the Reiki teaching community, Margaret Ann developed a system that not only produced a practitioner, it produced a healer, and this was her act of service to us all.

The Reiki System of Natural Healing was developed in the early 20th century by Mikao Usui, a Japanese Buddhist monk. The word “rei-ki” means “spiritual energy” or “transcendent life force” in Japanese, and the Reiki System was brought to the West over 70 years ago. Increasing acceptance and use in hospitals, hospices, spas and wellness centers has made the Reiki System one of the most in-demand healing modalities in the United States and around the world. The Reiki System (1) uses non-invasive, gentle touch; (2) accelerates the body’s natural healing processes; (3) supports mental and emotional healing; and (4) gives an overall sense of profound well-being.

No prerequisite

Begin your Reiki journey with self-treatment and spiritual centering practices. Course includes: 4 attunements; Reiki history and precepts; spiri-tual healing principles; guided-imagery meditations; and basic chair protocol.

REIKI 2—"Deeper Within"
Prerequisite: Reiki 1, and 21 days since taking Reiki

Deepen your personal practice of the Reiki System with: 3 symbols, their meanings and uses; 3 mantras and chanting; and “distance” transmission tech-niques. Course also includes: 3 attunements; guided-imagery meditations; and basic table protocol.

Part I: Intuitive Practice Intensive
Explore the more complex classical Japanese tradition of Reiki System hands-on practice. Learn how to intuitively tailor sessions to your clients’ individual needs. Course includes:

*Different modes of touch
*Healing with eyes and breath
*"Seeing" the body through anatomy & meridians

Note: The Spirit of Reiki by Lubeck, Petter & Rand and The Original Reiki Handbook of Dr. Mikao Usui by Usui & Petter are required for the 1st day of class.

Margaret Ann Case, BA, Reiki Master, RPP, for more than 15 years has been a recognized leader and innovator in the teaching of the Reiki system and spiritual healing. She is a former business executive, opera singer, and a life-long student of holistic and wisdom traditions. FACULTY
Joanna Crespo, MBA, Reiki Master, has been practicing the Reiki System for more than seven years and teaching for four years with Margaret Ann Case and Reiki Arts Continuum at the Open Center. She maintains a private practice In Montclair, NJ.

Michelle Shinagawa, BFA, Reiki Master, has been practicing the Reiki System since 2001, and teaching since 2006 with Margaret Ann Case and Reiki Arts Continuum at the Open Center. She maintains a private practice in Jackson Heights, NY.
