Walter Beebe

The Open Center’s Gala promises to be even more special than usual as we honor a Founder, Board Chair, President, and singular light guiding the Open Center through almost 30 years of service to New York City. Walter Beebe’s work and commitment to the Open Center are extraordinary. In addition to being a remarkable pioneer in the holistic movement, he served as a director of several charitable organizations, including the International Abraham Fund Initiatives, Bank Street College of Education, the Interfaith Center of New York, Sunbridge College, Westar Institute and the Near East Foundation. A corporate lawyer since 1966, he retired in 2006 from the New York firm of Jacobs Persinger & Parker. He is on the Advisory Board of the Continuum Center for Health and Healing of Beth Israel Medical Center and served as co-host in New York for the White House Commission on Alternative Medicine.

With his wife Carol, five children, and eight grandchildren, plus his explorations into the deeper realms of consciousness, he says, “the 70’s are the best!”
