How do you respond to difficult people and situations? How do you ensure that your own needs are met in a way that you don’t regret later? Communicating effectively and compassionately can be one of life’s greatest challenges. People often misunderstand words or intent and hurt each other with careless speech. In this introductory class based on the work of Marshall Rosenberg, author of Nonviolent Communication, we will learn how to increase our emotional intelligence and improve our communication skills—even with the most difficult people. We will learn compassionate listening skills, ways to stay connected during challenging conversations, and how to resist habitual reactions and create closer relationships by transforming judgment and blame into mutual understanding.
