Stephen Hirtenstein, MA

This talk is a meditation on the famous verses of the Andalusian Sufi master Muhyiddin Ibn ‘Arabi: "O marvel: a garden amidst the flames—my heart has become capable of every form . . . " If such a universal vision is the goal of all spiritual ways and our birthright, how do we reach it? What is the essence of the spiritual life? The evening will include a presentation of the first English translation of Ibn ’Arabi’s Hilyat al-abdal, which considers how people become "friends of God."
