The Healing Power of Sound: An Introduction to Sanskrit Pronunciation |

Knowledge of Sanskrit makes it possible to grasp the subtleties of yoga, whose body of teachings are written in that ancient language. Since ancient times, the practice of yoga has included the study of Sanskrit and the chanting of Sanskrit mantras to induce calm and clarity in meditation. Sanskrit is an integral part of the system of yoga, essential as a language for harmonizing and balancing the mind, so learning how to pronounce Sanskrit correctly is vitally important for yoga practitioners.
This evening, Josh Michaell will show us how to accurately pronounce the most common yoga-related words as well as how to begin to develop an intimacy with Sanskrit sounds and to feel their force and power and the unique way they vibrate the palate, body and chakras.
