Hawaiian Wisdom Teachings PDF Print E-mail
Iokepa Hanalei Imaikalani

Until 1972 aboriginal Hawaiians (kanaka maoli) were to a large extent prohibited from practicing their ancient Huna religion and culture, even speaking their language in public, using traditional healing plants, or dancing the authentic, sacred hula. Fortunately, traditional Hawaiian culture has made a comeback, and we are fortunate to have Iokepa, one of its most important contemporary figures and ambassadors, to share with us this evening some of the primordal spiritual wisdom passed down from the ancient Polynesians.

He will share stories and teachings about gratitude, love and living without fear, and teach us ways to connect to Spirit through prayer, dreams, dance, chanting and ritual—simple but unequaled tools to find our way to our own true path.

Iokepa Hanalei Imaikalani is the carrier of a 1,000-year-old kanaka maoli (aboriginal Hawaiian) prophecy, a responsibility which required him to surrender all his wealth and possessions to wander throughout Hawaii and beyond to advocate for Hawaiian native land and cultural rights.
