Rev. Cynthia Bourgeault
This evening, renowed author and Episcopalian priest Cynthia Bourgeault is our guide to rediscovering Jesus as a teacher of radical wisdom and compassion—whose aim is nothing less than the transformation of human consciousness and whose methods are as bold as a Zen master’s. She will draw from the Gospels and recently discovered ancient Christian documents to reveal a fresh, new understanding of Jesus and his teaching.
Topics will include the parables as wisdom tools, Jesus’ teachings on kenosis (or self-emptying) and the true meaning of the "kingdom of heaven." She will also introduce us to some simple practices from the Christian contemplative tradition, including centering prayer, lectio divina, and chanting, that lead to the kind of transformation Jesus taught.
AN EVENING WORKSHOP Friday, June 6, 7–10pm 08SSC06P Members: $25 / Nonmembers: $30 [CLICK TO REGISTER]
