Intention of the Foundation Training

Our adult body is composed of 75% living water and only 25% solid material. Many manual therapy modalities focus on the 25% such as the musculoskeletal and myofascial systems. This 700 hour Biodynamic Foundation Training teaches the student to visualize, explore and palpate the slow rhythm in the living fluids of the body called Primary Respiration.  Students are further grounded in the felt sense of Dynamic Stillness as the guiding principle of embryonic growth and development.  In this way the student is invited to reconnect with his or her original, whole and complete fluid body as it was ignited through conception and as it remains in the adult.  The perfect fluid body is the pre-existing condition of our bodily existence and is the location of the most fundamental therapeutic forces of ordered movement and organized structure.

The Mythic Imagination Institute, in association with the Open Center, offers a new Applied Mythology Certificate Program, weaving together art and participatory learning with serious scholarship to reawaken understanding and love of stories, myth and life�s archetypal dimensions. Ancient and modern myths, folktales and fairy tales are studied and experienced through art, narrative, poetry, movies, music, drama, dream, ritual and explorations in psychology, emphasizing application of material in ways to encourage meaningful and creative lives.

This revolutionary therapy has helped thousands of clients recover from such traumas as war, accidents, assaults, disasters and childhood abuse. In addition to the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder, EMDR is also used to treat the psychological effects of smaller traumas that manifest as symptoms of depression, anxiety, phobias, low self-esteem, creativity blocks and relationship difficulties. Not only does healing occur much more rapidly than in traditional therapy, but as a result of EMDR's clearing of emotional and physical blockages, many people undergo spiritual transformation and have "beyond the ego" experiences using the technique.

Herbal medicine has been in use for thousands of years, each culture having its own unique system based on the herbs of its bio-region. In the last hundred years we have steadily moved away from our ability to use herbs in a daily way for nourishment and healing and have all but lost the ability to use herbs medicinally for treatment of acute illness. We no longer cultivate physic gardens in which families used to grow their own medicine or keep recipe books of remedies that healed illnesses in our communities. Foraging of wild plants for food has also largely been lost as a skill. Industrialization has led to a fear of nature, and several generations have now grown up believing that natural and herbal remedies are quaint but impotent and that pharmaceutical drugs are the only effective treatment for illness. All the work of healing has been delegated to the “experts,” both mainstream and alternative.

The Reiki Advanced Practitioner Training is a foundation in the practice of the Reiki System of Natural Healing in both the Western (Takata) tradition and the Japanese tradition of Masters Usui and Hayashi.
