Massage is increasingly being seen not as a luxury but as an integral part of a general health and healing regimen. In this course we will learn basic massage techniques that not only promote health and healing but also enhance relaxation and simply feel good. We'll start with techniques that focus on the head, neck and shoulders in a seated position to help alleviate daily stress and tension. We'll add simple stretching exercises that make our bodies more receptive to massage techniques. We'll also explore the structure of some key, basic muscle groups and learn specific massage strokes to address some common problems, such as neck and shoulder tension, headache and low back pain. Finally, we will examine the importance of posture and discover simple exercises that can offer effective preventive approaches to many common muscular imbalances. [More] |
