The Cherokee culture developed a comprehensive, sophisticated bodywork system that encompassed a form of osteopathic massage and manipulation, breath, and energy work. Today Lewis Mehl-Madrona, a renowned holistic doctor who is of Cherokee and Lakota descent, will teach us some of its fundamental techniques including how to work with the breath to “re-animate” the body, “draw spirit” into affected tissues, and coordinate and harmonize thoracic, abdominal and pelvic breathing.
