Today we will learn how “therapy dogs” are trained to help heal traumatized humans, so that we might draw from this training in improving our relationships with our own companion animals and help improve their lives as well as our own. We will learn from a leading expert how dogs communicate, how to recognize signals of canine stress, how to maximize their socialization skills, how to achieve deep relaxation with our dogs, and how to test a dog to see if he/she might be a good candidate for animal-assisted therapy work. Come learn how to radically deepen the human-animal bond, one of the most uplifting experiences available in life.

Note: For both this workshop and the Friday evening workshop, dogs may attend with their handlers or guardians, but dogs must be friendly with other dogs.

Reiki is a gentle, non-invasive energy healing technique that all animals can benefit from. It is safe, effective and can do no harm. Reiki balances the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual aspects of an animal by releasing energy blockages which create imbalance and dis-ease. When an animal's energy is balanced and flowing, healing and change occur. Animals respond quickly to the ease that Reiki produces on these levels, often harmonizing seemingly difficult and impossible attitudes and conditions.

This class is designed for individuals who have been attuned to Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki Levels I & II and would like to learn how to use Reiki with animals. This course will cover.

Level I: an introduction to cat and dog - anatomy; the auric and chakra energy systems; and hand positions. By the end of the training we will perform a Reiki treatment on an animal in person.

Level II: goes more deeply into the energy systems of animals and how to consciously sense and move energy into that system to remove emotional and mental blockages, send energy over distance and time, to clear energy, and to create safe places. By the end of the training we will be able to perform a Reiki treatment on an animal both in person and at a distance.

Note: This course is recommended for the layperson Reiki II practitioner, animal guardians and caretakers that are affiliated with an animal-based practice and or an animal shelter or animal rescue group.

A Certificate of Completion in Reiki Level I and II with an Animal Reiki emphasis will be given by the instructor after the completion of this course.

In these workshops, one with cats, the other with dogs, we will learn Tellington TTouch’s basic bodywork, movement and handling techniques. We will pay attention to the subtleties of our pet’s language, and acknowledge/respond supportively when we see signs of distress. Such evidence that we do listen to them increases their trust in us greatly, raising their level of confidence, self-control, and ability to learn. We will discover how to identify and change tension patterns that predispose them to characteristic physical or emotional responses. We will gain easy-to-use skills to promote good health and resolve problems such as fear of the vet, bathing/thunder, chewing/jumping up, leash pulling, resistance to grooming, and obedience issues, and learn about recovery from illness or surgery and methods for graceful aging.

Note: You may bring a pet, though it’s not required (a stuffed toy animal can be used for practice).

As one of the country's leading animal communicators, Amelia Kinkade is in constant demand to find lost pets, diagnose baffling pet behavior, etc, but her overarching mission is to show that everyone can do what she does with the proper training, dedication and understanding. In this 2 day workshop, she will draw from her new book, The Language of Miracles, to explain how we can all learn to communicate with animals. She will share guided exercises that can help us interpret the subtle cues that form the foundation of animal communication and rediscover the intuitive abilities and empathies we all had as children. Come discover how to transform intuition from an unconscious and uncontrolled act to a well-honed skill, enhance training, improve animal relationships, solve behavior problems, understand a rescued animal's psyche, and much more.

Note: Live animals will be present, so please do not bring your animals. Bring photos of your pets and of those pets who have passed away.
