Constantina Rhodes, PhD

Intuition is being increasingly appreciated as a key component of decision-making. In this class, one of New York’s most experienced intuitive consultants and teachers of intuition will help us begin to develop a range of intuitive skills that we all possess in latent form but usually don’t know how to access, understand, or use. She will teach us meditation and visualization exercises designed to activate and hone specific capacities which use techniques to heighten our senses of seeing, hearing, and touch, and develop our skills in telepathic communication. An attuned intuition empowers us and enables us to make far better decisions about every aspect of life, from career to finances to romance to reaching our ultimate goals. Discover how to start tapping into the deep well of your own internal wisdom.

In this class, we will learn to face our fears of speaking in public in a supportive environment. Moving in manageable steps, at our own pace, we will gradually be exposed to answering simple questions while seated until we are comfortable, then learn to do so standing. From there, we will learn how to free our bodies with the effective use of gestures and movement, until we feel ready to move to both impromptu and prepared speaking. We will have the opportunity to simulate and practice virtually any speaking situation we are likely to encounter in personal and professional life, including conversation, reading aloud, employment interviews, panel discussions and handling confrontation, and many other situations.

In this intensive class with highly accomplished and experienced singer and voice teacher ILana Martin, we’ll discover how to develop our own unique singing style. We’ll cover how to: sing without tiring the voice; become aware of your body through breathwork; riff (improvise short rhythmic phrases); develop effective phrasing, passionate delivery and tasteful interpretation of songs; build a repertoire; sing naturally; explore melodies and syncopation; sharpen your ear; increase your vocal range; build a song from start to finish; and “own” a song. Using techniques including call and response chanting exercises that change the voice and expand its nature, our voices will soar beyond their former reach. This class will dramatically change your voice, so that it is on the way to being the best it can be, and you feel confident getting on any stage to express your own unique singing style.

Focusing, a practice developed by psychologist/ philosopher Eugene Gendlin, is a way to tap into and listen deeply to the inner wisdom of our bodies, to go beyond our usual ways of analyzing our situations to a deeper place where true wisdom resides. Attuning to our body’s intelligence in this way can help us make clearer decisions, feel more present to ourselves and others, be more in touch with our needs and feelings, and resolve past traumas, thereby enabling us to move forward in our lives. In this class, through experiential exercises, demonstrations, and group discussion, we will learn the six steps of Focusing, and how to apply them to our lives to help us live more fully.

Thomas Amelio

One of the most powerful and complete means for awakening, healing and transformation is chakra practice. Central to the yoga tradition, chakras are spiritual, psychological and emotional energy centers that exist within the human subtle body. In this class we will explore the unique purpose and function of each chakra. Ideally each works in harmony with the rest; however, for most, their full expression is hampered by long-held negative conditionings and suppressions karmas). This results in a disharmony of function—for example, a fifth chakra calling to self-express and have our talents shine can be inhibited by a first chakra fear of losing safety and security.

The yogic approach to addressing these disharmonies offers time-tested, experiential, vibrational and energetic practices to purify the chakras and bring them into full radiant expression. We will explore mantras, symbols and archetypes associated with the chakras— including the five elements—and the yogic practices of vichara (inquiry), pranayama (breath practice), mudra (hand seals), bandha (energy locks) and kumbhak (breath holding) to bring greater clarity and harmony to our inner and outer lives.
