Successful people think differently. They have the ability to bounce back, persevere, and make things happen. In this innovative learning laboratory, participants are exposed to the growing research on the mindset for success. Discover why some people run away from challenges while others rise to the occasion. If you feel like you have reached a plateau; or if you are afraid of both failure and success; if you are prone to giving up or self-sabotage,then let twenty years of research teach you the mindset for success.

Gratitude is an often overlooked yet powerful approach to increasing positive emotions. Over the past two decades scientists have discovered many subtle ways for using gratitude as a tool for affecting physical and emotional health. Learn to shift from a negative or neutral emotional state into a positive one. And learn to feel grateful rather than just think about gratitude. Learning the science of gratitude will leave participants feeling empowered, and inspired with tools for boosting their mood and feeling authentically happier.

Many cultures believe that each of us is guided by an inner spiritual Presence and that conscious communion with this “Beloved of the Soul” is the key to a fully realized life. Tonight the legendary human potential pioneer Jean Houston will offer her insights into the nature and practice of how to engage the Beloved in a partnership, one that offers us a real connection and more clarity. Through the use of meditations, and exercises to activate our imagination, we will cultivate a practice to invite the Beloved into our lives in an active and cocreative partnership, where we can express our deepest calling, live a life to its full potential, so we have resources to make a difference.

In this workshop we will be introduced to yoga psychology’s view of addictions, how they form and how they can be healed. According to yogic teachings, there are tendencies which exist in the subconscious mind (samskaras) created by past experiences that can fuel compulsive behaviors. This workshop will explore the types of samskaras and psychological elements (disconnectedness, impaired will power, etc.) that contribute to addictive behaviors as well as the particular chakras involved. We will learn an integrative approach to breaking addictive patterns of all types, including techniques for identifying and releasing samskaras and balancing specific chakras along with yoga and meditation practices to facilitate the healing process.

Heart disease is the leading cause of death in our society, but in many cultures with plant-based diets it is almost nonexistent. Tonight, pioneering general surgeon Caldwell Esselstyn will explain what inspired Bill Clinton and thousands of others to take charge of their health: heart disease can be completely reversed through diet, if we focus on revitalizing the magic carpet that lines our blood vessels—the endothelium. He will review clinical strategies proven to prevent and reverse heart disease in even advanced cases and show us how we can reduce the likelihood of not only heart problems but strokes, diabetes, hypertension, dementia, Alzheimer’s, vascular disease, ED and many cancers with the right plant-based nutrition. Dr. Esselstyn will be joined by Ann Crile Esselstyn, whose food strategies and recipes are featured in Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease.

According to master Jungian teacher Robin Robertson, we are born as complex
repositories of memories and behaviors. While we learn some things by rote from
our education and environment, we “know” the most important things in our inner soul long before we “know” them in our conscious mind, but we need the right “triggers” to bring them to the surface.
Meaningful coincidences are enigmas: Do they give guidance, should we dismiss them, or learn to understand the potential messages in them? Tonight we will see how the possibility of meaning in chance or random events can be greatly expanded, even if such meaning is outside conscious awareness. Starting with the origins and development of Jung’s idea of synchronicity, including insights derived from his recently published Red Book, we will look at a reformulation of synchronicity in terms of systems which exhibit self-organization and emergence. When things spontaneously interact and form something more complex than the sum of the parts, the new, higher level of reality is termed “emergent”—from hurricanes to schools of fish, to consciousness itself (emerging from the interaction of body and brain with the environment)—emergence permeates our universe. A number of examples from various fields will be discussed, including a reconsideration of historical events in terms of their synchronistic aspects.
