The Reiki System of Natural Healing is a Japanese art of energetic healing created by Dr. Mikao Usui in 1922 after an experience he had on Mount Kurama in Kyoto, while he was seeking enlightenment. He passed his teachings to 20 Reiki shihans (teachers) prior to his death in 1926. The awakening of Reiki healing is transmitted from teacher to student.

Being a Reiki practitioner involves becoming a vehicle or a conduit to channel healing energy to oneself and others. Reiki utilizes the natural life force in and around us to bring our bodies back to a natural state of balance. Reiki in practice is cumulative in effect. Reiki is not a religion or a dogma, thus it can be practiced by anyone, regardless of belief.

Module 1: Japanese Healing Techniques
In this module we acquire a general understanding of human anatomy and physiology, and of energy meridians, by drawing from the perspectives of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Advanced techniques, such as scanning for troubled areas, incorporating the eyes and the breath in Reiki protocols and hand-positions for different ailments, will also be covered.
