POSITION SUMMARY
The New York Open Center, for 26 years New York's premier holistic learning and cultural center, seeks a manager for its bookstore. The department includes several full and part time staff. The candidate must have at least 2 years experience as a bookstore manager (and having managed a bookstore/cafe combination is a big plus). S/he should be familiar with holistic subjects relevant to the Open Center (e.g, wellness, psychology, complimentary healing and medicine, meditation, bodywork, yoga, sustainability, spirituality, world religions, and indigenous traditions.
The manager must also administer staff schedules, be computer systems literate, and do some of the bookbuying. S/he should have solid business skills--maintaining the budget and accounting aspects of the department, setting and meeting targets, as well having a good entrepreneurial and marketing sense. Familiarity with online sales a big plus as we expand our offerings to the world.
Finally, the Open Center strives to be a welcoming, values based, community for its staff, members and guests, and candidates should have gracious interest in people and their self development.

2) Customer Service Agent
The New York Open Center is seeking a friendly, reliable person with excellent customer service, organization, and computer skills to serve as a Customer Service Agent. This position is permanent Part-time (approximately 15-25 hours/week). From time to time, must be available to work weekends and holidays. The Hourly wage is $10. Duties include: Managing registration in person, over the phone, and via e-mail; Achieving proficiency with our registration database system; Assisting in supervising and training volunteers; scheduling bodywork sessions, setting up bodywork rooms, collecting payments.
